Clay sculpture I

There are areas in the Netherlands where nature is again allowed to go its own way (within boundaries). In one of these places I found balls of sand-coated black sea clay lying on the beach, each “egg” naturally sculpted by the tidal forces, the dry season, the wind. The sand coating temporarily protects the clay from drying out. Building with these objects I created this clay sculpture in the shape of a Well. Working with gravity, searching for a delicate balance, each ball was carefully placed on top of its somewhat larger lower neighbors.
